2021 NBA Draft Top Prospect Profiles

What follows are the scouting or draft profiles for several of the top prospects in the 2021 NBA draft.

Shairef Cooper PG Auburn Draft profile

Your typical throwback type of PG who will be the motor of his team. Very crafty, can get at the rim at will and finish with both hands. Draws a lot of fouls, very good FT shooter. Very good creator able to pass efficiently with both hands, very good court vision. A leader who makes the right decision to help his team win.

Lacks size to be a top 5 pick in this draft. Good but not elite athlete. Will struggle more finishing at the rim and defending PGs in the NBA. Doesn’t put consistent effort on defense. Very streaky shooter from three despite his very good FT percentages, tends to lean back when he shoots. Could have some starter potential at NBA level but will depend on who develops him.

Davion Mitchell scouting profile

Birthday : 9/5/1998
Size : 6-2 205
Position : PG/SG
Hometown : Hinesville, Georgia
Team : Baylor, JR

Complete PG who can be efficient on both sides of the floor. Very good shooter from three with almost 50%, can blow by his defender and finish at the rim thanks to his strong built and athleticism. Very good passer who knows how to involve his teammates. Pesky defender, one of the top defensive guards in the country. Despite his age, has improved a lot between his sophomore and junior year and still has room to improve.

Old prospect, may not have the appeal his younger draftmates have. Still needs to cut down his turnovers. Inconsistent shooter who had multiple games with 25% or below from three with at least four attempts. Very good but not elite athlete. Excellent intangibles and competitive spirit. Could be a sleeper pick with star potential.

Keon Johnson Scouting Profile

Birthday : 3/10/2002
Size : 6-5 185
Position : SG
Hometown : Bell Buckle, Tennessee
Team : Tennessee, FR

Tremendous athlete who can finish way above the rim. Solid frame, very good speed in transition. Knows how to use his body and physical tools to score. Doesn’t hesitate to bring his opponent in the low post. Good bball IQ, tries to involve his teammates. High motor also on defense, potential two-way player in the league.

Shooting is a real problem as Johnson is not efficient even shooting a low-volume. Plays more like a forward than a SG but lacks the height to do so at 6-5. Good passer but needs to tighten his handles and cut down his turnovers. Steals and blocks numbers could be better considering his physical tools.

His defense and physical tools have value now but will the offense ever develop? He reminds me of Stanley Johnson.

Franz Wagner Draft profile

Birthday : 8/27/2001
Size : 6-9 220
Position : SF
Hometown : Berlin, Germany
Team : Michigan, SO

Versatile forward who can play some PF too. Can shoot from three like your traditional European forward but much more complete than that. Can create for his teammates, drive to the basket using his size. May never be a star player but a potential glue guy in a winning team. Willing defender despite his limited athleticism.

Limited athleticism, lacks the strength to defend the four and the footspeed against athletic SFs. Has struggled from outside during the NCAA tournament with an awful 2/16. Not a lot of upside, his stats have not increased significantly except for his assists.

Role player potential if the shooting is real teams always need shooting.

Cade Cunningham– Pos SG  HT: 6-8 – WT: 220 – WING: 7-0
Excellent versatile scorer, good playmaker, elite athlete, handle needs to be tightened up a bit,
6’6 combo guard with good size and length, especially for position with a 7’0.25 wingspan. 3 point shot also could use improvement. Scoring efficiency also a concern.

Evan Mobley

Unicorn like 7 footer who must have been created by the CIA. The secret is out very real superstar ability if he can add muscle and bulk up. Elite scorer and high end rebounder with defensive tools that boggle the mind

Scottie Barnes-Pos SF 6-9 230

6-8 or 6-9 depending on who you ask with a 7-2 Wingspan Barnes is an elite four position defender and PG like playmaker. He reminds me a lot of Kawhi Leonard
